Kutani Pottery Kosen Kiln

This Kutani ceramic kiln was opened in 1870 (3rd year of Meiji Era). This is the only Kutani kiln in Kanazawa where you can see the entire process of handmade Kutani-from the forming of potter's lathe to the paintings drawn on the potteries. This is a kiln known for its long tradition and genuine ceramic works and handmade articles with handwork paintings. There are various traditional Kutani ceramics on display and visitors are also treated to the demonstration of processes involved in making of ceramics-from shaping clay on a wheel to the firing to the final touches. The kiln also sells its products and you can also have the popular "hands on experience" of painting on ceramics with 25 shapes to choose from.(Fee: ¥ 1,050 - ¥ 5,250 / 9:00 to 16:00)
