Myoryuji, popularly known as Ninjadera (Ninja Temple) is an old temple belonging
to Nichiren sect. The 3rd Lord of Kaga clan, Maeda Toshitsune constructed this
temple as a place where members of Maeda Family could offer their prayers. From
the outside it looks like a simple temple with 2 floors but once you enter the
temple, you'll find that it has 4 floors and 7 tiers and the temple has a very
complex architecture with 23 chambers and 29 staircases. There are a total of
29 different contrivances to fool the enemy such as hidden chambers and stairs,
completely unexpected and reversible trap like doors and floor, escape pits. You
need to make reservations in advance since a tour of the temple is always conducted
by guides. |

Tentokuin Temple is the family temple of Tamahime who was the wife of Maeda Toshitsune-the
3rd Lord of Maeda Family. The temple was constructed in 1623 (Genna 9). Tamahime
was the 2nd daughter of the 2nd Tokugawa Shogun, Hidetada, who married when she
was only 3. She had 7 children and died at a young age of 24 due to a sickness.
In the temple, visitors can also enjoy a performance of Karakuri dolls which tells
the story of Tamahime (Timings for Karakuri Dolls Performance: 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00

Daijoji is a Zen temple of Soto sect and is situated at the base of the Daijoji
mountain next to a small mountain called Nodayama. This Zen temple belonging to
Sotoshu or Soto sect was built in 1261 by the 3rd Head Priest of Eiheiji temple,
Tettsu Gikai (1st Year of Kocho Era). Eiheiji and Sojiji temples are the head
temples of Daijoji. Over a period of 700 years, the temple prospered as it received
protection from the devoted Shugo Daimyo Togashi as well as Honda Family, whose
members served as top ministers of Kaga Province. Inside the temple, various Buddhist
structures such as the main hall, Zen meditation hall stand in a corridor style.
One can feel the quietness and tranquility typical of a Zen temple.
The temple also accepts people who want to stay at the temple and experience the
life style of Zen priests. |

It was founded on the old Kanaya palace site in 1873, where successive landlords
of Kaga clan lived. The deity a shrine is dedicated to is the founder of Kaga
clan, Toshiie Maeda and his wife Matsu. The shrine gate that the diamante was
treated is the unique characteristics. |
